The CYSS HIRED! program provides teens 15-18 years of age with apprenticeship opportunities in various on post facilities (e.g., Bowling Center, Golf Course, Community Club, Outdoor Recreation, Library, Marketing Office, CYS, etc.)

How it works: Four 12-week apprenticeship terms will be offered annually. Apprentices may work two (2) terms per year for three consecutive years. Teens work and participate in workforce-preparation and post secondary-education exploration workshops each term. After successfully completing a term, apprentices receive cash awards through CYS Services.

How to Apply:
1) Teens must complete the following documents Apprenticeship Application
2) Sponsor and teen must both review the Apprenticeship Pre-Assessment
3) Once complete and all documents and required items listed on the
Apprenticeship Criteria are completed and ready to be turned in; contact Hired!

El Paso Independent School District pre-registration event

The El Paso Independent School District will host a pre-registration event from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. August 4 at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center on East Fort Bliss. This event is for new military families arriving to El Paso with new students to the El Paso/Fort Bliss area who will be attending EPISD schools. Needed documents are: birth certificate, report card, withdrawal slip, transcripts from previous school, up-to-date immunization record, special education documentation (IEPs if applicable), proof of residence (housing orders or water/electricity utility bill), and Social Security card. Completing the pre-registration process will enable families to expedite registration at their new home campus.

CYSS Summer Food Program

The Fort Bliss Child Youth and School Services Program will sponsor the Summer Food Services Program beginning June 7 through August 20. Meals will be provided free of charge to all children 1 thru 18 years of age Monday thru Friday at the following sites:

  • Main CDC will serve breakfast 7:30 – 8:30 and Lunch 11:00 – 12:30
  • Logan CDC will serve breakfast 7:30 – 8:30 and Lunch 11:00 – 1230
  • Main SAS will serve breakfast 7:30 – 8:30 and Lunch 11:00 – 12:30
  • Middle School & Teen Center will serve Snack 3:00 – 4:00
  • Bldg 449 will serve lunch from 10:45 – 1:00 from 2 – 6 August
  • Lunch and Fun at Kelly Park every Wednesday. 16 June – 11 Aug Activities 0930 -1100 Lunch from 1100 – 1230.

*CLUBService is the new AmeriCorps educational incentive award for teens and young adults 17-24. There are two awards:

  • Full time-$4,725.00 (35hrs per week-one year term; minimum of 1,700hrs)
  • Part Time-$2,362.50 (10-20 hrs per week completed within 1-2 yrs; minimum of 900)

*Applicants may only participate in up to 2 terms of CLUBService Applicants must work in paid or unpaid areas of:

  • Educational Assistance (power hour, project learn, tutoring, computer assistance, etc)
  • Public Safety (SMARTMoves, Smart girls, coaching, peer leader, game room aide, gym/rec. aid, etc)

  • HIRED! Teen Apprenticeship Program (teens participating in the hired program can use their hours towards CLUBService)
