Operation Purple Camp Registration is Open

Operation Purple Camp Registration opened Monday, March 15 for children ages 9-11 and 12-15 year olds. Lone Tree Ranch has once again been selected to host an Operation Purple Camp. Operation Purple Camp is a program of the National Military Family Association with support from The Sierra Club and the Sierra Club Foundation. This FREE week of camp is for military kids with parents who have been, are currently, or will be deployed. It is open to children of service members of any branch of Service, active duty, National Guard or Reserve, as well as children of members of the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service and National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. To register, you must go through the National Military Family Association's web site:   http://www.militaryfamily.org/    look for Lone Tree Ranch in Capitan, NM.

Easter fun at the Rod and Gun club

Hop on over to the Fort Bliss Rod and Gun Club for great Easter fun on Sunday, April 4. Children can enjoy an Easter egg hunt, snacks, prizes and more! Children will be separated into three ages groups for the egg hunt. The hunt for children ages 1-4 will begin at 10 a.m., while children ages 5-8 start at 11 a.m. Children ages 9-12 will hunt eggs at noon. To get to the Rod and Gun Club, take I-10 to US -54, then take Railroad Drive exit. Travel on Railroad for approximately 7 miles, going underneath Loop 375. At next intersection (Roy Johnson Lane and Deer Street), turn right onto Roy Johnson Lane. For information, call 568-2983.

Car seat inspections

Nine out of 10 children's car seats are installed incorrectly. Is yours one of them? The next scheduled car seat inspection is April 8 at the Cassidy Main Shoppette, 1333 Cassidy Road from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

FRG Leader Certification Course Training

The Family Readiness Group (FRG) Course is provided by the Army Community Service, Mobilization and Deployment Program.  The training is available for all FRG members and is offered once a month. the following classes are required to receive a FRG Leader Certificate:

Homecoming/Reunion Training

The Homecoming/Reunion classes are designed to help soldiers and their family transition from deployment to reunion by maximizing the positive aspects of reunion. Preparation is the key to a smooth transition into reintegration of soldier and family.

Participants are required to call and sign up for the class; classes fill up at 100. Unit FRG registrations are welcome. Arrangements can be made for child care through CYS; the family member must make arrangements for the day/time they will be attending the class.
